5G specifications approved

3GPP, The 3rd Generation Partnership Project, announced before Christmas the technical specifications for 5G. Their website says: Several industry companies have been looking forward to the launch of the specification and have made a statement that the “completion of the first 5G NR (New Radio) standard has set the stage for the global mobile industry to start full-scale development of 5G NR for large-scale trials and commercial deployments as early as in 2019.” (more…)

Data traffic has increased 67 percent in a year

The mobile data traffic has increased globally with 67 percent from the second quarter of 2016 to the second quarter of 2017. The main reason for this is the free data in India, according to the Ericsson Mobility Report.
